MISSION FAILURE - DON'T JUMP

 Turner cannot move, his legs locked and his body tense and rigid. 
"Go, sir, go!" yells Corporal Kelly
But Turnbull is frozen. No force on earth could get him to jump.
Instead of pushing Turnbull out, Kelly pulls him back and out of the hatchway. Kelly then leaps into the night sky, followed swiftly by the other paratroopers. The last man out, Sergeant Pickett, shoots Turnbull a surprised look.
Turnbull lies on his back, breathing rapidly, wondering again and again what just happened. Gradually, the flak and turbulence subside. The plane grinds on to England.
The MP's arrest Turnbull when they touch ground, though his actions confuse the Army After all, this man was a combat veteran. Why would he freeze up over Normandy?
Instead of a court-martial, Turnbull gets the chance to redeem himself in the 106th Infantry Division, a new unit badly in need of experienced officers.
Turnbull dies six months later during the Battle of the Bulge while showing the valor that he lacked in the sky over Normandy.
