Allen James Lynch Medal of Honor

Honoring Allen James Lynch, who earned the Medal of Honor OTD, when he rescued several American troops during an ambush, dragging them to safety and then fighting communist troops off for two hours. Please thank him and honor all Vietnam Veterans!

On December 15, 1967, Specialist Allen Lynch’s unit, Company D, 1st Battalion (Airmobile), 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) air assaulted into an LZ to relieve Company A, which was surrounded by Viet Cong. Lynch’s company unfortunately walked into an ambush as well.

When his company’s point men were shot and trapped in open ground, Lynch exposed himself to enemy fire to drag them to safety, protecting them for several hours and fighting off enemy rushes single-handedly. He crossed fire-swept areas multiple times to save his fellow soldiers.

Lynch, a radio operator, volunteered to go to Vietnam. President Nixon presented Lynch with the Medal of Honor on May 14, 1970. After the War, he worked for the Veterans Administration before retiring, and he is still with us today. Thank you, Mr Lynch, for your leadership!
