Honor Danny Petersen, who earned the Medal of Honor posthumously in Vietnam on this day, when he exposed himself to enemy fire to protect his fellow soldiers, carrying one buddy to safety.

Danny was 20 years old when he was killed fighting for our country and defending his fellow Americans. Part of the 25th Infantry Division, Petersen and his fellow soldiers engaged the North Vietnamese Army in a day long battle near Tay Ninh, Vietnam, killing 62 enemy troops. One other American was killed in the battle, but I have been unable to find his name. If anyone has it, please let me know as I’d like to add it to this thread.

Danny is buried at the Netawaka Cemetery, about sixteen miles from his hometown of Horton, Kansas. Honor and remember Danny Petersen.
