Terrence Graves received the Medal of Honor posthumously for his heroic leadership in combat despite being badly wounded. While leading a reconnaissance patrol in Vietnam, Graves’ platoon was ambushed by the North Vietnamese. Graves called in air support and directed artillery and led his men out of danger. Though wounded himself, he called in helos and was the last man out. Honor and remember Terrence Graves!
Sadly, Graves died when his helo crashed during the flight back to base. In 2001, a memorial honoring Graves was dedicated in his hometown, and the barracks at The Basic School is named for him.
