Daniel Bruce earned the Medal of Honor posthumously in Vietnam, when he held a North Vietnamese RPG to his body, absorbing the explosion and saving the lives of his fellow Marines.
From Michigan City, Indiana, Bruce was on night watch at Firebase Tomahawk, when he selflessly sacrificed himself. He was serving with H&S Company, 3rd BN, 5th Marines. You can find his name on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on panel 31W, line 099.
