Stephen Karopczyc earned the Medal of Honor posthumously in Vietnam for his gritty and committed leadership in the face of a superior enemy force, where Karopczyc stayed in the fight and directed his platoon thought seriously wounded. At the battle’s apex, he smothered an enemy grande with his helmet to save the lives of his fellow soldiers.
