Edward Devore earned the Medal of Honor posthumously in Vietnam for his insane courage and leadership when his squad was ambushed. He rushed forward to lay covering fire, and then, later, when more Americans were pinned down, he assaulted through the enemy forces, drawing all of their fire on himself and letting the rest of the men withdraw.
