Emilio De La Garza earned the Medal of Honor posthumously in Vietnam when he absorbed the blast of a hidden Viet Cong grenade to save his fellow Marines’ lives. Honor and remember him!

From East Chicago, Indiana, De La Garza enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1969 and was a machine gunner in 2nd Battalion, 3D Marines, before later switching to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines. He was on a night patrol when he captured a Viet Cong prisoner who then produced the hidden grenade.
