April 16 George Alan Ingalls Medal of Honor

George Alan Ingalls earned the Medal of Honor posthumously on this day in Vietnam when he smothered enemy grenades with his body. Honor and remember him!

Ingalls was a Specialist Four in the 1st Cavalry Division when Viet Cong troops threw grenades to his squad as it lay in wait for a night ambush. Ingalls could have saved himself, but he dove on the grenade instead.

From the Los Angeles area, Ingalls was 21 years old when he was killed din action. He is buried at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park, Riverside, California. Honor and remember him!
