April 8 John Crews Medal of Honor

John Crews earned the Medal of Honor in the closing days of World War II when he single-handedly silenced two German machine gun positions though badly wounded himself. Honor and remember him.

Crews started the War as an MP, overseeing German prisoners in North Africa, but by 1944 he was in the infantry. Crews also received the Silver Star for his actions two days beforehand.

From Oklahoma, Crews survived the War and died in 1999 at age 76. President Truman presented the Medal of Honor on June 25, 1948 in the Rose Garden.
