October 15 Ralph Talbot Medal of Honor

Pretty incredible Marine Corps story… Ralph Talbot earned the Medal of Honor posthumously for his leadership flying over France in World War I. He was the first Marine aviator to earn the award, but his navigator/observer in the action for which he earned the MoH, Gunnery Sergeant Robert Robinson, also earned the MoH.

Gunnery Sergeant Robert Robinson, Talbot’s observer/ navigator, who also earned the Medal of Honor over France in World War I.

Talbot joined the Navy from Yale in 1917 to become an aviator, but resigned and accepted a Marine Corps commission as he thought this would increase his chance to get to France and fight the Huns. He was killed in a crash two weeks after earning the MoH. Honor and remember him!
