Harry Michael earned the Medal of Honor posthumously in Germany, when he single-handedly knocked out two German machine gun emplacements, and then led his platoon in coordinated attacks against SS troops. He was killed the next day by a sniper. Honor and remember him.

Michael joined the Army from Indiana, and was serving with the 80th Infantry Division on March 13, 1945. He is buried at Violett Cemetery in Goshen, Indiana. The ROTC drill floor at the Purdue University Armory was dedicated to Lt. Michaels in 1995, and his Medal of Honor is on display in the Armory. He was killed on the day after his 23rd birthday.
