Lewis Ramage, commanding the USS Parche, received the Medal of Honor for leading a daring surface attack on a Japanese convoy. Ramage accepted the award while noting “that every officer and man whose loyal cooperation and able assistance

contributed to the success of the Parche has an equal share in this award which I hold in trust for you.”
