February 14 Royal Baker

Much respect for Royal “The King” Bake, one of America’s premiere fighter pilots in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He shot down his tenth enemy MiG on this day, becoming a double-ace over Korea. He had flown 272 combat missions over Europe and another 140 in Vietnam. Honor and remember him!

February 13 Manuel Perez Medal of Honor

Manuel Perez earned the Medal of Honor in the Phillppines when, while scouting forward on Corregidor, he destroyed 11 of 12 Japanese pillboxes blocking his companies’ advance, killing 18 of the enemy in close combat. He was killed a month later in the raid to Santo Tomas in southern Luzon. Honor and remember Manuel Perez!

February 13 Chuck Yeager Born

February 11 Edward Dahlgren Medal of Honor

Edward Dahlgren killed eight German and captured 33 more in rapid sequence of attacks on German strong points in Oberhoffen, France, earning the Medal of Honor.  Dahlgren rescued a trapped platoon along the away, and repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire. He received the Medal on September 10, 1945 before returning to his native Maine. Honor and remember him!
